ABOUT ABOUT

The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC) in conjunction with Oregon State Parks, the US Forest Service, and the US Bureau of Land Management, will be conducting an OHV trails workshop in La Grande, OR on May 17-19, 2017. The 3-day workshop will consist of classroom sessions on May 17, and field sessions on May 18-19, at the Mount Emily Recreation Area (MERA). Field sessions will involve walking to various sites on the trail system so bring your best hiking shoes, rain gear, insect reppelant, and drinking water.

Transport between field session locations will require the use of an off-highway vehilce. Please let us know if you will not be able to provide your own OHV and we will do our best to accomodate you. Every person riding on an OHV will be required to wear proper safety gear including helmet, gloves, goggles, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and over the ankle boots. Any safety equipment required by your employer's OHV safety policy must also be worn.

A block of rooms at the government rate has been reserved at the Amerca's Best Value Sandman Inn in La Grande for workshop participants. These rooms may be reserved by calling (541) 963-3707 and asking for the NOHVCC block of rooms. This hotel has a 24 hour pool, hot tub, fitness center, free wifi, and free continental breakfast. All room reservations must be made by May 1st.

OHV Program Managers: Wednesday only. Limited to 30 people. The morning session will be indoors. This is open for land managers to discuss your area’s particular land management area. This is a good opportunity for networking with other OHV programs in Oregon. Some topics will include side-by-side trails, State Parks Safety training program, State Parks Law Enforcement Tracking Program. In the afternoon, an easy trail ride on an ATV or in a side-by-side will tour the OHV trails trail system of Mt Emily Recreation Area. There will be several stops to look at layout and design techniques. Be sure to bring your own ATV, side-by-side or motorcycle if you want to take part in this.
